Green zone

A 60-m2 stand in the green zone

The Foundation wanted the stand to represent its action for the environment. In addition to choosing the most ecological materials and a desire for simplicity that manifests itself in the choice of plants, lighting, technologies used, and modes of communication, the stand is a call to act. Acting by offsetting CO2 emissions at the voluntary carbon offset kiosk; Acting again in response to the filmed testimonies of the children of Eco-Schools, who report their daily actions to preserve the environment and who call on the green zone visitors to also take action on a daily basis.

Young Reporters for the Environment Exhibition: Another glance to the environment

The first exhibition entitled "Another Glance to the Environment" presents an exhibition of the award-winning photographs by the Young Reporters for the Environment, collected during the 14-year duration of the FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education), which the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection introduced in Morocco in 2002.

Exhibition

Eco-School Bus

The second exhibition takes place inside an Eco-School bus, which is parked in front of the entrance to the Arsat Moulay Abdeslam. It presents artwork made by schoolchildren using recycled waste from their school.

Exhibition

Sculptures

The third exhibition is along the same lines: it proposes sculptures, sometimes monumental, made using recycled materials, such as a dinosaur in recycled paper. Here, the schoolchildren from the Foundation’s Eco-School program has made this concept of the artistic use of waste. The Dinosaur has been labeled COP22.

Exhibition

Educational circuit

The fourth exhibition is an educational circuit for children. It proposes an itinerary in several modules that each deal with an environmental topic in a playful and interactive way, transmitting to children essential notions about the palm grove and the oases, such as oasis agriculture, irrigation by khetarras, and the palm tree life cycle.

COP22

Climate train

The Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection also climbs aboard the train for the climate which will stop in Marrakech from November 5 until the end of the COP, having traveled 2,900 km on the Moroccan railways with stops in 18 cities of Morocco. The Foundation has a railcar where it offers educational games that it has developed to educate children on the environment.

  • The seven steps of the Eco-Schools approach, a game to explain the functioning of the Foundation’s particular educational program;
  • A game about the coast, to transmit information about the biodiversity of coasts and wetlands, and water and waste;
  • A game about the Marchica lagoon (Nador), which also deals with the coast and waste, within the context of the lagoon;
  • "Plant with the Boundifs," an educational game about climate change, through the role of forests as carbon sinks;
  • A virtual 3D platform on air quality, climate, energy and water to educate young people on these subjects.

The exhibition UNESCO GREEN CITIZENS

The exhibition

"UNESCO GREEN CITIZENS: the pathfinders of change"

The exhibition highlights emblematic projects in education for sustainable development, such as the transmission of indigenous knowledge in Nicaragua, the modes of culture in Japan, sustainable fishing in France, coastal protection in the United States, a live performance in Vanuatu, a tea plantation giving autonomy to local communities in India, a plant wall in Senegal, and a recycling school in Egypt.
Another facet of this exhibition, and as part of COP22, concerns the program carried out by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection at the Marrakech palm grove and the inclusion of the local population. This touring exhibition is currently installed at the Marrakech airport and the exhibit will travel to several airports in Morocco for display until March 31, 2017.
