Consistent with Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection’s mission and the aim of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa, its President, to instill an environmental culture among our youngest citizens, an area of educational activities was developed in partnership with Nestle.

Gardens representing plants from three continents: Africa, America and Australia, as well as a teaching garden dedicated to the nearby schools were also constructed.

The Ermitage park rehabilitation was implemented in the spirit of the original garden design while ensuring natural resource preservation and the park’s connection with the future botanical garden at the site of the existing municipal nursery.

The park centerpiece is the water basin, which is fed by the natural Atlantis spring that was originally used to irrigate the city gardens. The basin serves as a water retention pond, including rainwater, and supplies the irrigation system for all park vegetation.

Laid out in 1920 as a 14-hectare horticultural park to house various species and lush gardens, the Ermitage has deteriorated over time.

Following its restoration, Ermitage Park can again offer residents and visitors a veritable green space in the heart of greater Casablanca.

The Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection thanks all of its partners (DGCL, the Wilaya of Greater Casablanca, the Casablanca City Council, Ciments du Maroc, Lafarge Maroc, Altadis Maroc, Nestle Maroc and Lydec) that have agreed to provide support for the preservation of our green heritage.
