20th of October 2016: The Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection organizes a workshop with YRE students under the theme: “On Our Way to COP22”

The workshop has been characterized by the high level of consciousness of the young reporters in the discussion of the main climate issues, as well as the strategic matters of COP22. This event ended by the redaction of recommendations that will be formulated on behalf of young reporters and of the 30 countries worldwide members of the international network of the “Young Reporters for the Environment” on the occasion of the education day that will be on the 14th of November 2016.

In parallel of this event organized in Rabat and in line with the continuing effort deployed by Morocco to achieve the participation of African continent during the COP22, the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental protection highlighted that that the African youth should have a unified discourse during this worldwide event trough the diffusion of the recommendations in the education day and formulated by students from Kenya, Ghana, Tanzania, Uganda, and south Africa.

These recommendations will be added to the ones developed during Rabat workshop, unifying the message addressed by African youth to the whole world gathered in Marrakech to face climate disturbance and affect the overall balance and health of the earth functioning.

Among the main recommendations of the Rabat workshop and that YRE students want to exhibit in front of the world leaders participants to COP22: “Create an international United Nations organization of Qualified Young Advocates for the Environment, elected by the global network of Young Reporters for the Environment – to communicate new and rational ideas in the field of environment.”

The participants expressed the whish that awarded international students from the YRE contest be appointed goodwill ambassadors to promote ecological values. They have also asked for the establishment of an international day of ecological footprint reduction.
