Restoration of Historic Parks and Gardens
Arsat Moulay Abdeslam

To the joy and pleasure of Marrakech's urban public, the Arsat Moulay Abdeslam historic gardens were rescued from advanced degradation. Created 300 years ago by Moulay Abdeslam, Prince of the Alaouite Dynasty, Arsat Moulay Abdeslam represents a veritable sacred art conservatory of Arab gardens.
These gardens were created in the 18th century, evoking paradise won over hostile nature. They were so precious that the Sultan Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah offered one to each of his sons. For example, the Arsat of Prince Mamoun, which became the setting for the famous Mamounia covering 15 hectares.
According to the clear wishes of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa, for preservation, as with restoration, the Foundation wants to be the agent of History, Memory, and Values: "I receive, I preserve, I convey," such could be the charter to which we all adhere.
It is a major social issue to educate citizens, especially youth, about this heritage. As such, each area includes a significant education and public awareness program on the love of nature.
