November 29, 2010 : ISESCO and The Foundation organized a regional workshop on integrated management of water resources and climate change, in Marrakech from monday, Novemder 29 to thursday, decembre 2, 2010.

Under the ISESCO - The Foundation partnership agreement, a regional workshop on Integrated Management of Water Resources and Climate Change was held from Monday, November 29 to Thursday, December 2, 2010 in Marrakech. The event was attended by a dozen Arab and Islamic country ISESCO members, and gathered over 30 national and international experts.


Topics discussed included the analysis of current climate change impacts on water resources, and mitigation and adaptation measures implemented to confront climatic extremes in the Islamic world.

Awareness and information activities, led by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection under its voluntary carbon offset program, were presented on the greenhouse effect and climate change.


The workshop provided a forum to exchange experiences and information to highlight the climate change phenomenon affecting Arab and Islamic countries, and its serious consequences, including droughts, floods, changes in the geographical distribution of rainfall, increased coastal aquifer salinity, and desertification.
