Carbon Expo, Barcelona, Spain. May 27-28, 2009.
The Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection attended the Carbon Expo 2009 event held in Barcelona on May 27 - 28, 2009. Carbon Expo 2009 is an annual event that engages the international community involved in the regulated or volunteer carbon market to mitigate climate change. The World Bank, the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA), and Koelnmesse organize Carbon Expo.
Carbon Expo is a multilateral communication platform for policy makers, experts, financiers, academics and civil society. Participants from over 120 countries attended the 9 plenary sessions and 28 workshops, and visited 55 exhibition stands representing the financial sector, industry, and some countries including Morocco.
Alongside plenary sessions and roundtables, several contacts were made with the operators of voluntary carbon offsetting, including the Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS), the Gold Standard, My Climate, EcoAct, and Atmosfair, to learn about procedures concerning the labeling of offset credits by the Foundation.
