A Foundation
for environmental education
The Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection was established in June 2001, at the initiative of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa was entrusted with the Chair from the beginning.
In this mission, the Foundation targets all audiences, including school children, political and economic decision-makers as well as the general public.
Educating future generations
The Foundation prepares future generations for preservation of living environments and long-term commitment to sustainable development.
Serving the general interest
The Foundation strives for an environment that serves the general interest. It seeks to foster solidarity and inclusion for all.
The Foundation's action agenda is based on the commitments made by Morocco at the Rio Summits of 1992 and 2012, and the Johannesburg Summit of 2002.
Morocco incorporated these commitments into its Charter for the Environment and Sustainable Development, its Framework Law and subsequent National Strategies. It is part of the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Program and its Sustainable Development Goals, as well as the African Union's Agenda 2063.
