On Saturday, December 3, 2011 at the Palmeraie Golf Palace conference center in MarrakechHer Royal Highness Princess Lalla HasnaaPresident of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, chaired the meeting on the progress status of the Marrakech Palm Grove Protection and Development Program.

On this occasion, Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa presented the main actions implemented since the last meeting in March 2009. Among these achievements is the maintenance of 75,244 existing palm trees and planting of 425,000 of the 430,000 new plants planned within the program.

Other actions were taken, including the creation of a women’s center at the Tounsi douar intended to promote generating activities and the launch of a pedestral circuit and an information and awareness center within the recently created Palm Grove Observatory (OPM). In addition, in order to relieve the pressure on water resources, RADEMA conducted a study on the use of recycled water from the wastewater treatment plant in Marrakech

In her speech, Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa highlighted education and awareness Foundation programs that have been implemented, such as Eco Schools, Young Reporters for the Environment, Green Key and Voluntary Carbon Offset.

The Wali of the Marrakech Tensift El Haouz Region and the President of the Palm Grove Observatory presented the above actions in detail.

On this occasion, agreements to support the Palm Grove Protection and Development Program were signed with the OCP group, the Caisse de Depot et de Gestion (CDG) Foundation, Credit Agricole, Banque Populaire Group – Foundation for Education and Culture and Cooper Pharma .
