African Green Universities and Youth Education Network

Based on the three main pillars: Education, Training and Networking, this network aims to promote the appropriation and integration of environmental and sustainable development concerns in teachingand research.The International Center Hassan II for Environmental Training, at the heart of the network management, works to implement the greening concepts into African Universities and Youth Networks. At the same time, efforts are being made to enhance the community involvement of students and young people, encouraging them to better contribute to the implementation of activities within the framework of sustainable development.
Thus, the main mission ofthe Network is to act as a leader in sustainability for higher educationand youth networks on the African continent. The AGUYEN network is called upon topromote the integration of elements of sustainability in higher education institutions,while seeking to improve the skills andbehaviors of future generations.
Today, the African Green Universities and Youth Education Networkbrings together 29 universities from 9 African countries (Morocco, Tunisia, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Comoros Islands, Kenya, Mauritanian Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo).
Mission of the Network
- Ensure the animation of the Network through capacity building sessions
- Create a space for the sharing and communication between African Universities, Networks of Universities and Youth Networks.
- Promote synergies and partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and other organizations.
- Relay to the various members of the Network the knowledge and experiences developed around the challenges of Sustainable Development.
- Raise awareness and train Focal Points and youths through capacity building sessions on the major issues of the environment, Sustainable Development, and the greening of campuses.
- Collaborate and co-produce with the various partners resources and pedagogical tools related to the themes of sustainable development and the greening of campuses
- Carry out a wide dissemination and communication on the various themes treated.
- Capitalize and enhance the operational actions carried out by the Center in collaboration with project and action leaders.
Ainsi, la mission principale du Réseau des Universités Vertes et d’Education des Jeunes en Afrique (AGUYEN) est d'agir en tant que leader de la durabilité pour l'enseignement supérieur et les Réseaux de jeunesse sur le continent africain. Le Réseau AGUYEN est amené à promouvoir l'intégration d'éléments de durabilité dans les établissements d'enseignement supérieur, tout en cherchant à améliorer les compétences et les mentalités des générations futures.
Aujourd’hui, le Réseau des Universités Vertes et d’Education des Jeunes en Afrique regroupe 28 Universités de 9 pays Africains (Maroc, Tunisie, Sénégal, Côte d’ivoire, Iles Comores, Kenya, Mauritanie, Uganda, République Démocratique du Congo).
