On 23 June 2025, the Hassan II International Center for Environmental Training brought together fifty technical managers and beach directors from Morocco’s coastal regions for a capacity-building session. Held under the auspices of the “Plages Propres” programme and aligned with the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, the event shifted learning from theory to action: expert presentations, case studies and role-play exercises addressed territorial coordination, environmental management, visitor safety and operational preparation for the summer season.
The day marked a turning point by privileging on-site assessment and the immediate application of newly acquired skills. Results speak for themselves: 90 percent of participants considered the content relevant, 85 percent reported gaining new competencies and 89 percent declared their readiness to deploy them. The average success rate rose from 69.2 percent before the training to 75.8 percent afterwards, confirming a solid anchoring of regulatory and operational knowledge.
By equipping managers with proven methods and local-governance tools, the Hassan II International Center for Environmental Training continues to professionalise frontline actors and to foster a shared culture of sustainable beach management.
