HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa, Chairwoman of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment, chaired, on Thursday at the headquarters of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) in Rabat, the opening ceremony of the 6th Islamic Conference of Environment Ministers, held under the patronage of HM King Mohammed VIunder the theme: Climate Change: Future Challenges for Sustainable Development.

The opening ceremony was marked by the royal message to the participants, in which the Sovereign called for developing a “road map” for the establishment of the Islamic Academy for the environment and sustainable development.

The opening ceremony was attended by Government Chief Abdelilah Benkirane, cabinet members, ambassadors and representatives of regional and international organizations.

After the opening session of the Conference, Dr. Altwaijri and General President of Meteorology and Environment Protection in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have provided the ‘Golden Crest of the Conference’ to Her Royal Highness in recognition of her pioneering initiatives in favor of environmental protection and sustainable development inside and outside of Morocco, and in appreciation of outstanding shares that the Foundation continues to carry out under the presidency of Her Royal Highness.
