With 62 awarded schools, the Green Flag launched by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, continues to be implemented nationwide by motivated schools. A network is been structured, and good environmental practices developed by pupils.
As each year, the jury deliberations for the attribution of the Green flag is expected by Eco-schools, as much as numerous to participate to the education for sustainable program. This year, the regional committed went to the field first, with the evaluation forms standardized by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, and have monitored, in the 12 regions, the 119 applicant schools for the Green Flag and its silver and bronze certificates. This evaluation then has been processed by the national jury that awarded the Green Flag to 62 Eco-schools, compared to 53 last edition
89 applicant schools this year for the label, representing a success rate of 70%. 30 silver certificate and 26 bronze ones have been deserved. The certificate marks an important step towards the gaining of the Green Flag that is attributed following a path of seven steps to pass through 3 years minimum. During this period, the Eco-schools learn to handle the three mandatory themes: water, energy, and waste. One theme mastering entitles to gain the bronze certificate and two themes the silver.
This year, the jury wanted to highlight the efforts of the Eco-school Ibn Al Ass in Nador, the Eco-school Abdelouahed El Marrakchiin Mohammédia, the Eco-school TabariinSidiBennour, and the Eco-school Ouled Mbarek in Kalâa by discerning the Green Flag graduated with honors from the Jury.
These remarkable achievements will be shared, as well the others, with the eco-schools. Launched in 2015, the project “once upon a time an eco-school” has as main objective to award the best practices in the six environmental themes of the program: waste, water, energy, biodiversity, nutrition, solidarity.
More than a hundred schools of the 12 regions sent their projects where pupils have demonstrated their creativity and sense of innovation.

Eco-schools is an educational tool. Its objective is to teach pupils the sustainable development concept and the respectful behaviors and lifestyles towards environment. It is an international program of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) that suggestseducating and raising awareness of students on environment. This education is at the same time playful and action- oriented.
Each school follows a methodology of seven steps that lead pupils to make actions wherever and whenever they could. This process leads to visible improvement, at the same time in the results of learning and students and population behaviors and finally at the level of the environment. The schools win the green flag label as symbol of their successful pathway.
Eco-schools program: Launched by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection in partnership with the ministry of education and vocational training, in order to train a generation of citizens of the World, Eco-schools are deployed in 60 countries participating in the FEE network. In Morocco 1,500 primary Schools, 630 000 students, 20 000 supervisors, 216 Green Flag labelled schools and 51 schools certified silver and 59 bronze participate in the program.
