
For the 2008 edition, the Foundation invited the Mayor of the City of Marseille to bring together partners on different approaches and actions for the preparation and management of the beach season in Marseille, where around 2 million people visit its beaches each year.
Also, best lessons learned from experiences in France (the National Association of Elected Representatives of the Coast) on concessions for certain activities and the accountability of elected officials in beach management will better guide the efforts of municipalities towards greater efficiency in this area.
Furthermore, the workshop presented the steps to improve the analysis and display of bathing water quality, and strengthen the rescue coordination on beaches.
The workshop aim of the debates and exchanges between experts was to bring Moroccan beaches to Blue Flag label international standards.










For the 2025 edition, 45 beaches had submitted their applications, illustrating the growing interest of coastal communities in this label, recognized for its contribution to sustainable tourist attractiveness and the promotion of territories.
