The Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection held its Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection met under the presidency of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa.

On Thursday, December 13th, 2018, the board of directors of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental protection met in Rabat under the presidency of HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa.

Before the assessment of the past year, Her Royal Highness expressed her satisfaction of the work accomplished and the tangible results reached since the creation of the Foundation in 2001.

Having reviewed the 2017 balance and future perspectives, the Board of Directors has closed the accounts for the 2017 financial year.

Her Royal Highness concrete commitment to the environment and education for sustainable development, her strong influence and the progress of the realizations, represent considerable assets and explain largely the current positioning of the Foundation in Morocco and in the world.

The Board of Directors commended the nomination of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa as Goodwill Ambassador of the Climate Commission of the Congo Basin and the blue Fund for the Congo Basin, which was created by twelve countries of this region on March 9th, 2017 in Oyo, Republic of Congo.

Her Royal Highness has represented her Foundation and delivered opening speeches in several international events such as: The World Environment Education Congress (WEEC) in September 2017 in Vancouver, Canada and Women’ Forum in Toronto in May 2018.

The program “Clean beaches”, which is experiencing its 18th season, has experienced a new re-launching, with the particular support of the Ministry of the interior and more specifically the General Directorate of local authorities.

This re-launching has been characterized by management tools, Trainings, and this year, by the revision of the circular of the interior Minister on the management of beaches. A major awareness campaign was launched during the summer of 2018, broadcasting television spots on national channels and messages of raising awareness on radios.

In 2017, the Eco-Schools program was extended to the preschool level in alignment with the generalization of preschool education that His Majesty has just launched in July 2018.

On the other side, the Air Climat program focused on the territories, with Marrakech as a pilot city, where a carbon footprint and the introduction of electric mobility, a first in Morocco, are underway.

The Foundation manages nearly twenty programs in six areas of intervention, including education for the environment, coastline, air and climate, sustainable tourism, safeguarding and development of the Marrakech palm grove and historic parks and gardens.
