Provincial Workshop in Nador for Capacity Building in Education for Sustainable Development for the Eco-Schools & and Young Reporters for the Environment Community

As a follow-up to the national workshop organized for the benefit of the 12 regional and 82 provincial coordinators, as well as the regional workshops conducted across the 12 regional education and training academies, the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, in partnership with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, and the Agency for the Development of the Marchica Lagoon, organized a capacity-building workshop in Nador on January 23, 2025.

The day was structured around two key sessions:

  • Half-day dedicated to the Eco-Schools community: More than 50 preschool and primary school eco-students, accompanied by their educators, participated in sessions tailored to their level of participation in the Eco-Schools program. Newly enrolled schools were introduced to the program’s methodology, steps, and themes. Schools with Bronze or Silver certificates attended sessions to enhance their knowledge, while Green Flag-labeled schools were encouraged to continue their efforts and renew their commitment.
  • Half-day for Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE): Around 60 middle and high school students, along with their mentors, participated in an introduction to the YRE competition and its theme for the 23rd edition, focused on ecosystem restoration, with a particular emphasis on the Marchica Lagoon. An expert from the Agency for the Development of the Marchica Lagoon presented the unique features of this ecosystem and the sustainable projects implemented there, serving as a source of inspiration for the young environmental reporters.

This initiative reflects the collective commitment of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection and its local and national partners to promote sustainability themes, strengthen participants’ capacities, and encourage young generations to act for environmental protection through an innovative and collaborative approach. On this occasion, the Foundation and its partners wish the entire educational community the best of luck for the 2024-2025 edition, marked by innovation, motivation, and the sharing of experiences.
