RESPONSIBLE TOURISM Monday January 31, 2012: launching of the Green Key web portal Support tool for tourism establishments

GREEN KEY PROGRAM

HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa has made environmental education and awareness the heart of the FM6E mission, ever since the foundation’s inception.

The Green Key program is a continuation of FM6E awareness activities with the main objective of developing responsible tourism by encouraging and supporting the best environmental management initiatives in the tourist accommodation sector.

Thus, the international Green Key eco-label is managed by FM6E on behalf of the International Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), which FM6E joined as a member in 2002.

GREEN KEY PORTAL

This new portal is an instrument for strategic communications on environmental management for tourist accommodations and for the development and management of the Green Key label in Morocco. The portal will bring the FM6E image and message to a wider public: tourist accommodations professionals, public and private institutions, economic operators, NGOs, environmental experts and consultants, etc.

The portal was designed to meet the information needs of different audiences while ensuring consistency in the organization of information and a user-friendly navigation.

On the main page, four (4) major sections are available in an intuitive way. Two of them are for tourism professionals and tourists; the other two are spaces for discovery and exchange in order to better support those who wish to join the label.

The complete Green Key brochures and documents will be available online in an interactive and user-friendly format, which will reduce the printing needs of users and thus be aligned with the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection’s policy of environmental awareness and education.

This project, which began more than a year ago, has required the integration of many logistical, technological, organizational and human parameters. The launch of www.clefverte.ma is only the first step. A platform for online registration, submission of applications, and a forum are also planned.

The website, www.clefverte.ma, will also soon be on social networks (Facebook, YouTube, etc.) to boost the image of our destination.

Starting January 31, we invite you to visit this portal and hope that you enjoy it.

The Green Key eco-label is the first network of environmentally friendly and ecological tourist accommodations throughout member 28 countries (Europe, Asia, etc.), awarded by the international Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) to 1,500 certified facilities.
