Launching a training program for territories

Within the framework of its Air and Climate Pole, the Foundation, in partnership with the General Directorate of Territorial Communities, has launched a training program for territories, which is deployed at the Hassan II International Center for Environmental Training. This program aims to assist local authorities in preparing investment files for concrete climate projects in order to raise the corresponding funding, whether on a national or international scale. The projects are defined at the regional level and cover several sectors: energy, waste, sustainable mobility and water, etc.

470 territorial actors from the 12 regions of Morocco have so far benefited from this training (executives, engineers and department heads, technicians at the level of municipalities, prefectures, regional councils).

The training program includes:

• Two and a half day regional training workshops in all 12 regions.
• Awareness-raising webinars to upgrade knowledge on climate change and insert climate projects into the Commune’s action plan.

This training program was launched by a national workshop on December 7, 2021 in the presence of decision makers and elected officials from the 12 regions. It was followed by 12 regional workshops:

• Training workshop for the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region from 14 to 16 décembre 2021.
• Training workshop for the Marrakech-Safi region from 21 to 23 décembre 2021.
• Training workshop for the Oriental region from 16 to 18 mai 2022.
• Training workshop for the Fés-Meknés region from 23 to 25 mai 2022.
• Training workshop for the Drâa-Tafilalet region from 06 to 08 juin 2022.
• Training workshop for the Casablanca-Settat 1 region from 27 to 29 juin 2022.
• Training workshop for the Casablanca-Settat 2 region from 06 to 08 juillet 2022.
• Training workshop for the Souss Massa region from 12 to 14 septembre 2022.
• Training workshop for the Guelmim-Oued Noun region from 26 to 28 septembre 2022.
• Training workshop for the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region from 12 to 14 octobre 2022.
• Training workshop for the regions Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra and Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab from 24 to 26 octobre 2022.
• Training workshop for the Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma region from 07 to 09 novembre 2022.

Six webinars on upgrading knowledge on climate change and inserting climate projects into the Commune’s action plan were also held during the months of November and December 2022. These webinars reached 363 people across the 12 regions of the Kingdom of Morocco.

A national workshop for the restitution of all this work, during which a guide of good practices will be presented, is planned for January 2023.
