The most important point of this edition is the fact of obtaining two new “Blue Flags” in two new beaches : Achkar (in the Province of Tangier-Asilah) and El Haouzia (in the Province of El Jadida) besides the confirmation of this same label in the two beaches which have already been  awarded in 2005: Ain Diab (in the Grand Casablanca) and Essaouira.

This new certification constitutes an international recognition of the success of the “Clean Beaches” program.

Winners of the Lalla Hasnaa Trophy for 2006

Trophy for commitment awarded to :

1.The National Office for Airports and the Urban Community of M’diq for the quality of infrastructures  and the rigorous management  at the level of M’diq beach which has known an important advance very well noticed by vacationers. This development comes within a global vision for repositioning the M’diq-Fnideq Coastline, which has brought a new dynamic to the region.

2. The Cherifian Office for Phosphates and the Urban Community of Lamaachat for their persistent and continuous commitment which has allowed a gradual change in the equipments of Souira Lakdima beach and reflects a good image to vacationers.

Trophy for innovation awarded to :

  1. Maroc Telecom for the originality of the equipments made of wood set up in Achkar beach, and especially for their being removable and thus can be put somewhere at the end of the season. This way they would be preserved to be used in next seasons.
  2. Moroccan Red Crescent and Association for persons with motor impairment in Morocco for their action in the Achkar beach which has allowed the disabled persons to swim thanks to “Tiralo”(a machine made for disabled persons to allow them to swim), as well as for  taking charge of them.
  3. Office for Exploitation of Ports for the setting up of a leisure park for children and a centre for information in the beach of Essaouira.

–         The park responds to the needs of the city in spaces for leisure and games for children but also in day nursery allowing parents to benefit from the advantages of the bay while leaving their children in a secure place where they are looked after. This project has allowed the creation of three permanent jobs.

–         The centre for environmental education and information is integrated within the existing equipments, it would be animated by volunteers from the Youth Department and by members of a local association.

Trophy for the initiative awarded to:

 

  1. Akwa Group and the Rural Community of Mireleft for developing the Mireleft beach (Imin Tourgha) in a way that has allowed a clear zoning making the management more easier, and for the quality of sticked bills and notice boards for  informing, educating and growing people’s awareness towards environment. These mediums are illustrated with targeted pictograms popularizing and making it easier the reading of information provided for the large public.
  2. Association Mohammed Kacimi and the BMCE Bank: for the socio-cultural actions in, and nearby El Harhoura beach to make children, mainly the destitute, profit from leisure and education activities.
  3. Association of Sidi Abed Residents for the concept and for setting up the sea school in the beach of Sidi Abed. This pedagogical space is intended for informing children about  the rich sea fauna and flaura et teach them the elementary notions for preserving sea and fishing activity.

Special Prize : Her Royal Highness the Princess Lalla Hasnaa, President of Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of Environment has awarded the special prize to the Rural Community of El Houzia and the Popular Bank for putting into effect the social approach encouraged by the Foundation, by obtaining the label Blue Flag in the very frequented rural beach : El Haouzia beach. This label opens the way to all the other beaches registered within the program “Clean Beaches” to make greater efforts to reach the standards of the international label “Blue Flag”.

During this ceremony and as an evidence of the personal action of Her Royal Highness the Princess Lalla Hasnaa, President of Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of Environment, in favour of environment protection and coastline preservation, Mr. Mohammed BACHIRI, President of the Drapor Board of Directors and President of the African section of CEDA has handed over to Her Royal Highness, the medal of dredging days 2006 awarded unanimously by the participants (twenty African countries) and CEDA international committee based in Holland, during the international dredging days held in Tangier from the 1st to 3rd November, 2006.

At the end of the ceremony, Her Royal Highness the Princess Lalla Hasnaa has visited the exhibition stand presenting the actions concerning animation and environmental education led on field by the National Federation for Moroccan Scouts, the Royal Moroccan Federation for Sail Yachting, the Moroccan Red Crescent, the Association Space Mohammed El Kacimi in El Harhoura and the Association of Sidi Abed Residents.
