As part of the ongoing GREEN TIME workshops, April 8th, 9th, and 10th marked a new series of educational encounters held in celebration of the International Day of Forests. More than 60 eco-school students from the primary level were welcomed into the lush setting of the Exotic Gardens for a program rich in sensory discovery and hands-on learning about nature and forests.
These workshops immersed the children in the world of plants through inspiring activities supported by our educational tools:
- Seed Sowing Technique: Participants got their hands in the soil to understand the plant life cycle and the importance of each stage from seed to sprout.
• The Art of Bonsai: A poetic introduction to patience and harmony with nature, where children discovered the fundamentals of this ancient Japanese tradition.
• Permaculture Planting: In line with the first workshops, students continued exploring sustainable gardening practices through planting based on permaculture principles.
• Botanical Treasure Hunt: A playful adventure through the lush paths of the Exotic Gardens, where each team collected unique plant elements. These findings will be gifted to another Green Time station as part of a symbolic exchange between young participants, contributing to the creation of a shared and living herbarium, a true messenger of biodiversity and interregional connection.
These days strengthened the idea that wonder in the face of nature, when paired with tangible actions and symbolic sharing, becomes a powerful driver of engagement. By fostering exchanges among youth across different regions, GREEN TIME weaves living connections around biodiversity and nurtures in each participant a sense of pride in contributing to a collective project for preserving life.
