A recognized leader on the world stage for her commitment to the environment, HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa was invited to Toronto to shed light, on the sidelines of the G7, on that role and on women’s part in societal transformation
Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa is the guest of Women’s Forum, to be held on 10-11 May 2018 at the Fairmont Royal York, in Toronto, on the sidelines of the G7 Summit.
Created in 2005, the Women’s Forum for the Economy and Society is an international platform seeking to highlight women’s distinct vision and voice regarding the major economic and societal issues of our time. The Paris-based forum regularly takes a stand on societal issues and was actively engaged, in particular, in favor of the Paris climate agreement in 2015.
It was in that capacity that the Forum invited Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa, who has been actively engaged in environmental preservation since 1999, becoming an iconic figure in her country. Her Royal Highness is acting in a dual capacity, first as a woman leader in her field, rallying behind her a steadily growing number of stakeholders and, second, as a mother committed to protecting the future of her children and that of the coming generations.
Addressing a distinguished audience of nearly 700 leaders – men and women – from the G7 countries, HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaabrought together those two facets of Her action: Her leadership for the environment and Her commitment as a mother, as HRHlikes to define herself, displaying an exceptional ability to project herself into the future of the children Her Royal Highness is raising.
Her Royal Highness explained how Her Foundation’s environmental awareness and education action targets all age groups and all of society, the aim being to bring about change and promote environment-friendly behavior. Her Royal Highness is also campaigning for the achievement of Africa’s economic development, in which no social segments would be left behind. To achieve this education and behavior transformation, Her Royal Highness lays special focus on the action of women, whose influence in raising children and in society in general goes far beyond what is generally acknowledged. As an action-oriented, pragmatic and staunch believer in effective small steps, HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa has turned her Foundation into a key institution in Africa and the Mediterranean – one which is today partnering with major organizations such as UNESCO, UN Environment, FAO and ISESCO.
In Toronto, where Women’s Forum was making its voice heard through recommendations to the G7, HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaacarried the message of Her Foundation and Her country in favor of sustainable development.
