Relax on the beach and enjoy a good novel in peace and quiet? That’s what’s new for summer 2022 with the libraries opening right on the beach.
Launched as part of #b7arblaplastic campaign, by the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Environmental Protection and its partners, chaired by HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa, ten beach libraries will open during the 2022 summer season throughout the Kingdom.
The beaches of Dalia, Sidi Qanqoush, Temara Casino, Essaouira, Bedouza, in addition to the mobile library established by the National Office for Water and Electricity, the Electricity Branch, which stopped at the beaches of Mahdia, Moulay Bousselham, Ain Diab, Oualidia, Aklou, Umm Labouir, Al Musafir, Al Trouk on the occasion of the campaign #Bahrblaplastic 2022.
Set directly on the sand, on 10 beaches from North to South, these libraries bring reading back into the lives of many who’ve drifted away from it, and facilitate access to reading and culture while people relax and unwind.
These libraries let summer vacationers, tourists at seaside resorts and beachgoers to choose from a variety of novels, books and magazines. But that’s not all! Children, who are at the heart of the #b7arblaplastic campaign, also get to enjoy great fiction books and comics.
These spaces devoted to reading will be available from June 15 to September 15, 2022. The initiative makes it easy to borrow books free of charge, to be returned to library shelves by day’s end.
Better yet, in thanks to beach libraries for being there, book lovers often spontaneously offer books of their own or especially purchased, to the libraries at the end of their stay.
Well received and respected by young and old alike, they bring joy to summer visitors and all those who love books.
