The Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection leads a workshop in Nagoya

The Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection was entrusted by UNESCO to lead a workshop on the Decade of Environmental Education at the World Conference in Nagoya, Japan which is organized from November 10 to 12, 2014.

The Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection is a UNESCO partner, and Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa is a guest of honor at the UNESCO the World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). Her Royal Highness delivered a speech at the conference opening, where she expressed her commitment and experience in this area.

The workshop co-organized by the Foundation and the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) focused on the theme entitled Defining the ESD Agenda Beyond 2014. Panelists representing schools, universities, civil society, the private sector and local authorities were asked to present their comprehensive institutional approach for ESD. A working subgroup was thus conducted to come up with concrete recommendations on the five priority areas of the UNESCO Global Action program. The idea is to achieve a standard global approach that can be used by any organization worldwide.

This event marks the end of the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014), and brought together nearly a thousand participants. This high-level conference brought together political stakeholders, teachers, NGOs, community representatives, businesses and youth working in education for sustainable development.

Since its inception, the Foundation has made education for sustainable development its primary basis for action. With awareness programs like Eco Schools and Young Reporters for the Environment, Clean Beaches, and Qualit’Air, over time the Foundation has developed an expertise recognized worldwide.
