In 2013, a second beach in the southern region was labeled, namely El Moussafir in Dakhla.
Obtaining the Blue Flag depends on beach development and management compliance with criteria on the general environment, water management, waste management and environmental education.
The Foundation has managed this program since 2002, with support from the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), the World Tourism Organization (WTO), and the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT). It has noticeably evolved thanks to assistance from progress by the national Clean Beaches program including the Lalla Hasnaa Awards encouraging the best practices observed at the program beaches.
The ultimate goal is to label a maximum number of beaches to provide our seaside heritage with the highest international standards.
